About The Morris
The Headcorn Men started dancing in 1973: the Ladies in 1978. We also started the ‘tradition’ of dancing at sunrise on Mayday: a practice which continues to this day on Headcorn Green.
.
The two sides have taken the name of Headcorn far afield with visits to festivals from Estonia to the Basque Country and over to Boston USA.
.
We dance Cotswold Morris (what most people think of as morris, with sticks, bells and handkerchiefs). Some of the dances are traditional, collected in the early 20th century, but many are Headcorn’s own tradition.
